at the end of a semester...
1. What to do if you are standing in front of a volcano before it erupts.
2. The world is getting more and more dis-ordered everyday and there is nothing we can do that will stop it.
3. One day, in a realllllyyy long time from now, our sun will explode and our entire solar system will be gone.
4. If you are going to serve a mission, do it right. Because if you don't, you will get in BIG TROUBLE later.
5. I am a teeny tiny speck in the universe, and when I really think about it I kind of freak out.
6. If I was an ice sculpture, I am in the beginning stages of becoming a really cool statue. And no one knows what the finished product is going to be except the sculptor, my savior.
7. When you serve someone else you take a little step towards Heavenly Father.
8. When a guy is 30 and he is trying to ask you out, ALWAYS say no.

brittany's birthday!
I love Brittany Molina so obviously I wrote her a poem for her birthday:
Brittany you are the most giddy lady in Provo,
at the loft you pop lock and drop it so low.
Of all the mormon people here at BYU,
the one who makes me laugh hardest is you.
A picture a day we took our first year,
we have too many fay bay pictures I fear.
My nicknames you bestowed upon me,
they're so good I can't believe they were free.
Oh my double gosh you psycho twank
our language is foreign to most, lets be frank.
One time we Woke up in Vegas fo realz,
your dad gets us all sweet nike dealz.
When we fought with food I stood there and cried,
and you laughed so hard you almost died.
Last year we were swimmin’ in boys to our nose,
this year they barely get up to our toes.
Our homework makes us all want to be dead,
but seriously -all we want is to be wed!
I think we need to get one thing straight,
nutella and cake batter you like to see on your plate.
Your lucky cause you've tasted the mish,
and you write all the boys to the dismay of the bish.
Free Hugs for Everyone is what we live by,
but you should charge Jeff, he isn't that shy.
You know what B, I’m not gonna lie,
if you weren’t my friend I’d lay down and die.
I hope you know that I love you plenty,
and I know you’ll have a bomb year being twenty!
home
WE WENT HOME!!!
Rooming with two other girls from Vegas is the best decision I have ever made.
We drove home on Thursday and ran over a bobcat on accident. It was really sad at first and I felt bad for the little kitten but then I was glad it happened because the whole ride home I thoroughly enjoyed making up jokes that involved the chunks of bobcat under our feet.
Things I did when I was home:
1. surprised all my brothers on their way to school! AH!
2. went to the business costco for the first time in my life
3. I voted and ate a Great Harvest Sandwich!
4. I finally replaced my 7th grade navy blue converse... if you know me well enough you know that this was WAY overdue.
5. I got 8 pairs of shoes at Old Navy for 18 bucks. My feet were smiling.
6. Cheered James on in his little league baseball game as Tyler entertained me :)
7. Went to BJ's for the first time and shared a pazookie with my family!
8. Went and saw the Olsens!
9. Went to Lake Mojave and wakesurfed for the last time in 2010 :(
10. Enjoyed my favorite homemade dinner
11. Saw the Brady family and ate their dessert!
12. Watched Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets....twice!
13. attended the Quail Ridge Ward.
And when we got back to Provo it was freezing. The End.

frightmares
I realized the other day that there will come a time that the thought of going to a theme park for a full 9 hours will sound- not so satisfactory. I realized that most of the things I do now, won't be so enjoyable 10 years from now. So, I have decided to seize every opportunity just like orange rolls at a Thanksgiving feast. Last year Brittany, Bri, James, Kort, and Christine went to Frightmares together! We enjoyed it so much that we decided to go again for round 2! This year Kort and Christine couldn't come but we were able to add another glee full Dalton to the mix. Despite the frowny skies, we had a adventurous time.
Our first ride of the day, I LOST MY CELL PHONE! It landed in gravel and concrete 40 feet below us traveling at very high speeds so I was assuming it was a dead one. Luckily, 8 hours later one of the ride workers found it somewhere under the track and the miracle was that it STILL worked! It survived with just one little scratch! I have a feeling this phone will last me a long time. We went through every haunted house and rode every ride, and enjoyed our typical college student lunches which consisted of mostly bread, jelly, and peanut butter. Since we conquered the park like champs we were ravenous so we made a pit stop at the PIE in Salt Lake, if you go to BYU or if you are from Utah there is no need for me to explain why. Another big announcement that is blog-worthy; I have officially decided that I like the autumn months. The mix of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas make me really happy. Another thing that is official, I had my first cup of hot chocolate of the season on Monday, thank you Bri Slade for being so wonderful to me.
Another great thing that happened this weekend, I experienced my first seven minutes in heaven, and it was definitely worth waiting 19 years for it.

a little slice of heaven
Today I met my cousin Abigail Jean Howlett! She is the tiniest baby I have ever held and I have never been so touched by a little spirit as I was today. I couldn't help but tear up a little bit when I first saw her, she is such a miracle! There is proof that Heavenly Father loves us by the fact he sends us little babies and he loves us enough to trust that we will take care of them and raise them as he would. She is so beautiful and such a blessing! Truly my heart was touched today and filled with love. My aunt and uncle are the best parents and I love their family, Abigail is definitely off to a good start! (except for the headband, in Jacob's opinion she would be better without it... debate able)

bri's birthday!
Birthdays everywhere! There is always a birthday! And I always blog about it and say how much i love that person! Don’t worry in another month it will be Brittany Molina’s turn but today it is Bri Slade. Bri's favorite place to eat in provo is hands down.... SAMMY'S. So all day I didn't eat anything so I could totally enjoy my pie shake (oreo chocolate cream... oh myy) Dinner at Sammy's was so yum! I gave Bri my birthday gift which entailed of Dried Mangoes and some other stuff, its a funny joke between Bri and I. HA! So then we went to Lanai and Britt and Christine did a great job and organizing a party at the last second! There was a band called "the second round" playing and lots of friends showed up. Afterwards at the girls apartment we enjoyed Bri singing her amazing song she wrote on her guitar! Instead of sleeping at my house I spent the night on the couch in Bri's apartment, and she slept on the couch right next to me! What a sweetheart!
During dinner we all went around the table and said something nice about Bri and I started talking and I almost started to cry!! AHHH!! embarrassing right?! wrong. Just thinking about how fun college has been and thinking back to the first day to now, its crazy how big of a role Bri has played in my experience at BYU! I remembered the first day of college thinking "wow this girl made my day really fun today" and then the first week thinking "Bri made this week so great" and then it turned into a month and a month turned into a semester and pretty soon there is this girl who is always making my life so much fun and wonderful! She is the best definition of a friend and I don't know what I would do without her!

"Most people give up just when they're about to achieve success. They quit on the one yard line. They give up at the last minute of the game, one foot from a winning touch down."
Today I tried really hard to count my blessings:
my friends really care about me, my family loves me, BYU, I have brains (even though it may not seem like it), Las Vegas, my cousins, my violin, my church, my car, my freedom, peanut butter m&m's, my ipod (without it I wouldn't run. And if I didn't run I would probably be obese)
and I just really like this picture so I decided to throw it in

general relief society conferece
We decided to go to the General Relief Society Conference in Salt Lake City instead of the BYU vs. Nevada football game, we didn't want to have to choose who to cheer for. This was such funfabulous day! On the way up we stopped and ate at... Chipotle. Which I have been craving since day 1 of school this year. Julia has been living under a stupid rock and has never had Chipotle so we helped her out there, good gracious. This weekend Jessie Lythgoe came to Provo! She is so tizzight and I am glad to finally have met her!

So us 4 Vegas chicas went to the conference and it was such a good way to spend our Saturday evening. It was my first time in the conference center for a meeting and I was so touched by the spirit in there right when I walked in. Every speaker was wonderful and to my surprise the prophet spoke at the close of the meeting! I was so touched by his talk and will never forget being there for that meeting. When we got home we went to Pirate Island for a dance party and lets just say, we definitely worked off those burritos.

kristens birthday!
September 22 is Kristen Brie Egberts Birthday! WEEE! I just want to reflect for a second, back to the day that I first met Kristen. It was the first real day of college and my mom had just left (so I was crying... hahah) and I went to Helamen Field by myself for Freshman Orientation and I found my group and I was sitting there waiting for everyone to get there as I was noticing how uncomfortable I was, it was like a bajillion degrees outside and my face was sticky from crying and my hair was sticking to my skin, yuck. As everyone started introducing each other there was a girl sitting across from me who was undeniably stunning. I remember she looked kind of angry sitting there (the sun was in her eyes?! haha!) and she said she was Kristen Egbert from Las Vegas, Nevada and that she went to Coronado High School, my rival high school! We spent that day together and have been friends ever since. We both love going back home to vegas, at any hour of the day. Kristen is a really good example to me and being her roommate makes me a better person! Together we set weekly goals to improve ourselves and we keep each other on track by reminding each other to do our scripture study each night and by going to the temple every week, she is so great for me! She is hilarious and makes me laugh by doing anything, and she is straight up gorgeous. Haha in her family they always have Krispy Kreme Doughnuts for breakfast on birthdays (which I didn't object to... duh!) We had dinner at Brick Oven with all our friends and it was so fun being together! We all love Kristen!

first paper of the semester
I got in my car after a long day of classes at Green Valley High School in Henderson, Nevada and looked at the temperature on my dashboard, it read 118 degrees. Perfect! As I drove home in my mobile sauna, I was already thinking about the next day. I would have to wake up at 4:30 and shower so I could make it to seminary by 6, then I would go to my chamber orchestra rehearsal at 7 and go to my classes from 8-2:30. My varsity volleyball team was playing the number one ranked school in our league the next day and that game would last until 7. As the class president, I would go home to meet all my classmates working on our homecoming parade float in our driveway until 10. In between all of this, I fervently hoped I would be able to find time to eat, maybe sleep, and finish my homework for all my AP classes! Needless to say, I was a tiny bit stressed.
Fast forward 3 years, I am a sophomore at Brigham Young University. I miss my family back in Henderson which consists of my parents, three younger brothers, and my cat Nora. I am just starting my major which is Communications with an Advertising emphasis, I hope to apply to the program next fall and and hopefully study abroad in Italy during the time which I have heard is called the “dead semester”. Up to this point I have covered a lot of my general education credits. I’ve never been so thankful to attend a school that is centered around all my my core beliefs, all of them in correspondence to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. As I plan out my major, I reflect on what experiences I have had in my 19 year life that will help me in my Communicative endeavors. My family and I have traveled to many parts of the globe including Tanzania, Africa and Beijing, China. While we were there I was completely fascinated by the differences between these foreign cultures and my own, but at the same time marveled at the similarities. Having been to the other side of the globe and back, I realize how lucky we are to have modern communication. Without it, our staggeringly massive world would be completely disconnected.
Fast forward another couple years, I am walking off stage at graduation. I can see my Communications 101 teacher in the front row cheering me on, he might even be holding a poster with my name on it! As I am walking off stage I see a woman standing and waiting for me. She tells me that she is retiring and that now that I have my degree, I am qualified to take her position! She works for Apple and is one of the main directors of advertising. She creates advertisements for iphone applications, she also manages some of the advertisements on the apple website, letting the public know about Apple’s new creations which are always the cutting-edge of technology. I gladly accept this new job and give my Communications 101 teacher an air-high five as I walk away.
At this point in life, I am grateful to be here at school, learning about the changing world around me. In the upcoming years of my life I hope to cross some things off my list of "To Do's". I would like to become a certified witch doctor in 43 countries, 4 planets, and 7 galaxies, beat the sun in a staring contest, and catch all the Pokemon. Once I achieve these, I hope to get married in the LDS temple and have 3 children and raise them in the gospel so they can serve missions and also one day get married in the temple. Although I am really excited to be at that point, I am enjoying every minute of the journey, taking it one day at a time!
Back to Brigham
Back in Provo! I love it and I hate it! Isn't it funny how no matter where I am I can't seem to be 100% satisfied? When I am home, I crave my friends in Provo. When I am in Provo, I miss everything about Las Vegas. I guess that is just something everyone my age copes with during this awkward life phase.

| welcome to campus lane |
Coming to BYU this year was a little different than last year.
Freshman year: Packed weeks in advance, loaded up my our roomy GMC denali and drove up with Mom, unpacked in an hour, cried A LOT.
Sophomore year: Packed the day of, squeezed my life into my new car :) (2009 Toyota Matrix) and drove up alone, took 3 days to unpack, cried a little.

| new room HA! |
Honestly, that pretty much sums it up! It may seem like my tearless trek to Utah was heartless, in reality the only reason I didn't cry is because this year I wasn't as scared. I know what its like not seeing my family for months and I knew I had friends literally waiting on my doorstep in Provo. Its not because I wasn't sad, its because I knew what was going to happen this time around.
